Istanbul Nişantaşı University hosted the “Symposium on Early Detection and Awareness of Breast Cancer” to highlight the importance of early detection of breast cancer and raise public awareness.

Organized by the Department of New Media and Communication of the Faculty of Economics, Administrative and Social Sciences and the Public Relations and Advertising Club, the symposium took place on November 4, 2026, in the Smal Conference Hal.

The symposium emphasized the vital importance of early detection of breast cancer and addressed various aspects of raising public awareness about the disease, the importance of regular health check-ups, and early detection procedures.

The symposium featured Dr. Emre Özoran from Istanbul Nişantaşı University, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Selman Emiroğlu from Biruni University, and Psychologist Sude Selçuk as speakers. The event, which brought together experts in their respective fields, was moderated by Dr. Fatma Kamiloğlu.

Addressing both medical and psychological approaches to breast cancer, the event aimed to raise awareness of early detection and promote preventive healthcare practices.

Contribution to the Sustainable Development Goals

Within the framework of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals, the symposium provided a platform for awareness-raising and knowledge-sharing, particularly in relation to SDG 3 – Good Health and Well-Being, SDG 4 – Quality Education, and SDG 5 – Gender Equality.

Highlighting the importance of early detection of breast cancer, promoting preventive health awareness, and supporting students' health literacy contributed to fostering a culture of healthy living.

The sharing of scientific knowledge on women's health by academics and experts once again demonstrated the importance of raising public awareness and ensuring access to health information.
